Just discovered an engine oil leak after jacking the rear of my discovery 1 for spring replacement and noticed a puddle of oil under the engine and discovered a rusted hole in the sump. Any chance the sump is removable with the engine in place?

I removed mine with the engine in place when I first got it as the drain plug had stripped its threads. Could just clean up the damaged area and try jb weld

I removed the sump from my Discovery years ago. I'm not sure if you have to jack up the chassis from the axle, but it can be done.
The only cure for your leak
is either welding a patch or replacement.

Thanks for your replies, I sourced a new sump and managed to get it passed the pick up pipe by lowering the axle and bringing it forward.
