yes that is the question, if filters and hose ok likely its okBut is the question, am I getting too much suction? i.e. A blockage?

This is bloody frustrating!yes that is the question, if filters and hose ok likely its ok
TBH I haven't Steve. Thank you.I guess you have seen all this View attachment 210765
Sorry, meant second and third from top, but can probably discount third one down now.TBH I haven't Steve. Thank you.
I think it probably best fits the two descriptions at the top of the second page.
About 3 bar when hot. 3.5 bar when cold.I know this thread has been going a long time but what is your actual oil pressure when engine running flat out?
About 3 bar when hot. 3.5 bar when cold.
I'll check the pressures in the morning to make sure I've got them right. That seems low to me - from when SWMBO's 300 oil pressure switch let the oil out, and I fitted a gauge till a new switch arrived - pressure cold at high RPM was 60 psi, so 4 bar - I don't know the relief valve pressure setting, but isn't it about 70psi ?
I'm almost hoping I've got those figures wrong, cos they don't help - unless the "missing" pressure is going to the turbo and causing the problem ?
1.76 bar at idle
Any data on what the 300Tdi Garrett turbo oil pressure is meant to be?
it would need to hold 7 litres and wouldnt be long filling so best you havent tried itCouldn't work out a way of having a catch can under the outflow pipe. It's really tight for space there on the 300Tdi. The outflow pipe is short and inflexible, so you can't bend it to reach a catch can. Result is that I can't very easily do that test. However, I think I've proven that I haven't got crankcase pressure pushing the oil back up to the turbo.
It's a brand new outflow pipe and it looks as though it's installed without a kink it in now. It's not a very wide pipe though. So, all I can think to do is find a bigger diameter pipe. No idea if they are available! Or, custom make on or get one custom made!
I'm running out of options and starting to run out of ideas.

that isnt a problem you havent excessive pressureAny data on what the 300Tdi Garrett turbo oil pressure is meant to be?
Yep, that's the conclusion I came to !it would need to hold 7 litres and wouldnt be long filling so best you havent tried it
I presume they must be able to cope with a range of pressures. So I'm now obviously wondering if my engine is producing a higher oil pressure than the range the turbo can cope with?Does it not take the engine oil pressure?/
Cheers
Feckthat isnt a problem you havent excessive pressure
obviously not 4 bar isnt high and your not there the vm turbo runs at 90psiYep, that's the conclusion I came to !
