I've been working on one of my D1s, specifically the EDC. So far, I've done the EVRY mod, upgraded to VNTs, and installed 2-hole gaskets. However, I'm experiencing a boost cut-off issue. When I hold the boost at 19 PSI, it drops to 15 PSI before climbing back up to 19 PSI. My EGTs peak at 400°C.

I want to push the limits of this EDC without switching to a VE pump. I suspect the ECU is cutting boost to prevent overboost, but is there a way to bypass this?

I'm considering installing a mechanical boost controller while keeping the electronic controller plugged in to avoid triggering a CEL. Would this make a difference? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I would say egt of 400 is very low, probably lower than a std car?
The edc tdi engines do tune up lovely with a remap.

That's what I thought, my other Disco (mech IP) reaches 550 when towing.
I have not owned a d1 (1997 model ES auto) for many years now, but I did try a tuning box and it was pretty good, then got a proper remap/intercooler done and it literally flew, it was certainly quicker than the d2 I replaced it with.
One tip I was told was to advance the inj pump timing a knatts cock, if you go to far it puts the engine light on, no worries just retard it slightly.

I did have to push it until the CEL blinked on me hahaha, i had to take off my contraption of the EVRY mod that time. im now currently facing the issue when I fitted a VNT where it chokes at some point and then runs normally in a few seconds then chokes again. im thinking that these are controlled by the ECU, since it happens in a regular intervals.
