it annoys you though ,it would anyone

Actually I don't find him annoying, predictable and repetitive troll bob is.
But it's like a mentally disabled relative that you take pity on:D as it appears accy and Roy have.

Hi all -- back again!

Just got round to fitting the new stop solenoid today, expecting it would sort the non starting issue.

And surprise surprise, having the same issues!

It will start and run perfectly with the plunger removed from the stop solenoid. However with the solenoid and spring in place, it won't even cough!

There is a healthy 12v at the stop solenoid wire, and the solenoid can be heard loudly clicking when the ignition is turned on and off. The connection is good and clean.

I've peered down the hole where the solenoid screws into and it looks clean, nothing I can see that would obstruct fuel flow.

This is doing my nut in, what can it possibly be???:confused::confused:

Update

When the ignition switch is turned to 'start', power is lost on the stop solenoid wire.

I have a feeling this has something to do with the new ignition barrel and switch that I fitted recently...

oops, wrong cable somewhere then!!

did the same meself of a ZX moons ago, no power to the coil when turning over, but was when running/ ign1

Agreed, I did the same on the disco when wiring a new wire for the stop solenoid. There's a feed from the ignition barrel for stage 1-2-3 and a 2/3 you need that last one, if you get a multimeter on it and test for voltage on each stage you'll find what each one is. Or clever people might find a wiring diagram somewhere....

All the wiring diagrams I've found have been total bollix... wires are either different colours or missing entirely. Can tell the f**king thing was built by Brummies.

Multimeter will be coming back out again tomorrow... for more than one job... /sigh
