So the Money Pit has now popped up the 3 amigos so had it in at the local specialists while they did some other work. It threw up about 30 fault codes including suspension height sensors which is odd as it is an E so never had any. Amongst the codes it listed the rear ABS sensors so as there were so many codes they cleared them off to see what would happen.
Anyway they came on again soon after so I am going to look at the rear sensors first.

Has anyone had any joy just cleaning them up or should I just replace them.

Some of those extra cheap hubs are defect from factory as the reluctor ring has 55 teeth instead of required 60 or bad quality sensor which gives erratic readings then the TC will kick in unwanted making it undriveable, i've seen this not once, others will start to leak through after no time, some will work well for a while, it's a lottery with them so even if you buy cheap make sure it's not manufactured in china...which at that price it's quite unlikely
 
We've used two so far, not the ultra-cheap ones, and they've been fine, but a timely warning and easy enough to check the teeth number.

Both ours had shimmed sensors.

Well going to check the sensors first then see what happens.
Already had Clutch, Dual Mass Flywheel, Slave Cyl, FPR, Stat and MAF in the last month.
Funds are running low.
 
I replaced front hub with OEM version about 2 years ago I had no problems but also need to replace rear one as there is possible crack in abs ring and sometimes sets off the 3 amigo's anyway the end of last year my disco got hit by a car when a woman cut across the front of my disco and damaged the front wing and bumper thought that they were going to right it off as that was their first opinion damage was priced at £1500 short time after repair started toget 3 amigo's show up so thought it was rear hub until I plugged in diagnostics found it came from front hub I replaced so eventually got dry day to get under disco to have a look and found that the abs sensor was unclipped from retaining clips and when I drove it abs lead was flapping about the garage hadn't clipped it back in place since then no issues from that hub.
