Morning. Ive read lots on the immobilizer issues. Bought a cheap 3.9 discovery the other day only really for the boost alloys. However upon further inspection the car (rust wise) is in remarkable condition. But, its immobilised without the buttons in the fob and no key code. Have i much hope of getting her running?
Thanks

Probably. Fobs can be refurbished (doesn't @MrSporty do that?) and any LR dealer can give you the EKA code on production of the V5.
Resynching fobs ought to turn off the immobiliser. I would think it is very do-able.

Perhaps u would like to explain what that statement above means, all genuine Disco fobs have buttons.
You don’t need a key code just get your local key cutter to make a copy.
For the emergency key access code you may be able to get from a main dealer as mentioned, previously.
Also the spider immobiliser if fitted can be bypassed simply and permanently with just two short lengths of wire.

Yea, the PO has taken the innards out of the fob in an effort to fix it. Its not stolen!! Like i said i bought it on a whim and planned to move it on but the underside is remarkable. The woman said it ran fine till this happened. I only want to get it running for the minute to see what its like.

So what happens? do you have a red LED permanently illuminated displayed in the dash, which is an indication the engine is immobilised, if not does the engine crank?

If you have the innards to the fob, you can replace the microswitches but you still need the transducer, or whatever the little thingy is called, to make it all work. If the plastic buttons from the outside of the fob are missing but the microswitches are still there, just push them with a biro or something. If they are conencted and the fob batt is good, it should work.
EKA plus other modification as mentioned above is the only other answer I can see. You deffo should get the EKA from the main dealer, I had to once and on production of proof I actually owned the car they gave me all the codes.

OK. Fitted a good battery. Key fob has no internals. Immobilizer red light is on. Does not crank. no fuel pump buzz. PO has been messing with the relays in the passenger foot well. fortunatly the siren is not connected. Getting her home today. Outside the workshop. spend some time investigating. Cant wait to hear her running. Apparently engines fine.
Thanks for the input. Very much appreciated. I struggle with electrics.

I struggle with modern electricals too! If the key fob has no internals then you need to get the EKA, get the door open and then get a garage or someone with a diagnostic to reset the immobiliser to permanently off. There are a bunch of guys on here who know precisely how to do it.
