3.9 classic bottom radiator hose

Hi there,

the bottom radiator hose for my 3.9 efi classic has split and the water was just gushing out. So i've got the replacement hose and clips but two of the jubilee clips are'nt moving at all to remove the old hose.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can maybe get them to loosen? I've tried spraying them with WD40 and still can't get them to budge. Tried brute force but the screwdriver is just slipping straight back out.Also looked into cutting them off with a junior hacksaw but it's a helluva tight squeeze so you can hardly get any purchase on the saw at all to cut.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think cutting them is the way to go.If they knackered to get off you wont get em back on again.HAve you got a big pair of snips or simliar to try?Otherwise possibly removing the radiator itself might be easiest

Hi, I just use a pair of side cutter, and grip the screw housing and twist left & right the it should snap the jub clip and come off.

Be careful if you go down the twist it off route, you could bend/break the pipe off the rad then you'll be in trouble. Might be better to cut the bottom hose in the middle and remove the rad. Then cut the hose clips off. If you have a Dremmel or similar tool with a grinding wheel that might be a way to go.

Thanks for the help guys. Managed to get the two smaller clips to unscrew no problems but the bigger clips along the bottom of the hose were a nightmare. Managed to get tin snips into one of them, but a hacksaw and some skint knuckles were the only way to go on the other clip.

The new hose was pretty easy to get on but now the bloody water pump has gone as well. At first it was only the hose that was spewing out water, but when that was changed over and I went to fill the expansion bottle up with water, it started spewing out higher up around the water pump area.

And since lack of funds means it's a home job, how much of a pain is it going to be to change the water pump? Since that's one job I have'nt done before.
