Hi, I have owned a 2016 L405, TDV6 with Gen 2 engine for 4 years. Has 5 main dealer services since I have owned, the last service was carried out in May 2024 for a cam belt. Since the service, the car did not sound right. I have just covered 900 miles since cam belt replaced and the crankshaft has snapped! Car did starts but absolutely devastated. Apparently need engine rebuild?

Are there any experts on this forum who can rebuild my car?

Just had new pulleys, cam belt etc etc

Can anyone advise if they had the same problem?

And who rebuilt engine? Approx costs? THANKS

Any advise would be APPRECIATED 🙏🏽

If the crank has snapped then it's likely you'll need a new engine block, though it does depend on where the snap is and what damage has been done

Are you sure the crank has snapped, and it is not in fact the camshaft pulley snapped?

The pulleys are known for going on these. I follow a firm on FB called MDRS automotive and they often post about these things detonating after cam belt changes but often it seems to be the pulleys snapping as Lynall suggests. Get someone in the know to have a look and DO NOT TRY TO START IT in the mean time, you'll do more damage.

Have a look at these guys, when our D4 detonates, it'll be going there for repair (or possibly TDV8 upgrade ) and I'll tow It there with my TDV8 L322 'n all!

Not sure its crank snapped but as suggested above do not run it, needs investigating, drop the oil have a look for bits, as suggested check cam pulley
