Cracking job you done on that Mate. Yes think there will be a few more parts to source, so need to think how much I want to pay for it. Anyone an Idea of what it's worth as it stands Now ?
As it stands, £200-500 really, but nobody is likely to accept that. The chassis and engine are worth money on their own, but obviously require work to get into individual bits. As a rule, parts will often add up to more than an entire vehicle.
A 200Tdi swap is not a bad swap as far as engine conversions go, but from the pics, this does look like lots of bits are missing.
Do you really want a project? And do you want a modified Series?
To get it running is one thing, but to get it being worthwhile to drive it, might be quite a different thing.
You'll want to clock the turbo. Steve Parkers was also the place for the downpipe you need, but no idea if you'll get one now they are gone, full exhaust.
Series rad and front panel will be fine, as long as you don't plan on being silly with tuning the Tdi, it'll run fine without the intercooler, although it would be possible to fit one.
Defender throttle pedal needed and the Tdi throttle cable, then Series for the brake and clutch pedal.
You'll want to check how the engine has been fitted to the gearbox (assuming it is a Series 4 speed?). There is a wrong way and a correct way. The wrong way will likely result in oil leaks.
You'll have to decide what you want to do about the power steering pump, if you want to run a standard belt setup. I fitted power steering to mine. Series steering can be fine, but is dreadful when the bits are worn. Replacing all of the steering parts is more costly than fitting a power steering setup. It looks like most are missing in the photos you posted.
You'll want to sort the suspension and brakes out, might as well do springs too if you are this far into it. Then its body and interior.
With the right parts and enough work, this could be made nice. But I suspect you are talking about thousands in parts. I already had a running working Series when I did a chassis swap and Tdi upgrade, plus PAS and suspension upgrades. So I was starting from a point of knowing what worked and with a fairly tidy vehicle interior/body wise.
I know prices have gone crazy on Series motors in recent times, but I'd have though you could easily spend more on this than it is realistically worth. Or at least you could buy a decent tidy runner for a less money and use it straight away.
