i am taking my 200tdi out as its broken. I have another that I am dropping in whilst I do all the repairs on mine.
Never rebuilt one before and will be a long process so the replacement engine will be in a good year.
Anyway I plan to rebuild and replace everything that's required but what should I do with the one going in?
I want minimal work as need it in quick. Not doing clutch as ££ and I will put a new clutch when I change back.
Will do pump and belt, set tappets and do rocker.
Is there anything else you would do that's easy quick and cheap whilst engine out

Clutch.... 54quid for a HD britpart set. I always change it when the engine comes out because I'd hate to have to pull the engine just because the clutch had gone. If your doing tappets then I'd get new lash caps as well

Just avoid the cheap blue-box valve stem caps. The set I bought recently were absolute rubbish compared to the (170k) originals. They didn't even fit on the valve properly.
You should do the rear crank seal if you value your driveway too but if you're in a rush and don't want to spend any money then I'd imagine it will be left alone.

Rear crank seal if its not leaking dont touch, new ones are bit of a minefield.
