Mine don't squeek at all even when in a bog coverd in water, amazed they don't slip, might had new pulleys put on at some stage.
Having a abit of smoke on start up is always normal for an old 200. Most likely be valve stem seals, should clear up soon as give it a few pulls on the road.
And glad you've sorted most of it out!
:)

Got near enough the same problem with mine. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f7/black-smoke-258436-7.html Blake smoke is doing my head in, embarising at times when driving out and about.
Done everything you have done except the Timing Adjustment as I dont have a clue on what to do.
Is it an easy job to do?? or should I get someone with Experience to do it for me??

If you have a Haynes manual it tells you everything and how to do it. It took me about half an hour but I knew how to do it having done the timing belt. To check the timing adjustment, turn the crank so TDC lines up with the mark on the front cover and remove the plate and gasket held in with three screws on the case. If a 9mm drill bit fits in the hole on the pump, the timing is fine. If not, follow the Haynes manual to adjust or if you haven't got one, just let me know and I'll give you the instructions for it.

Thanks Mate.
Have not got a clue about TDC marks ect, but will try to get a manual and have a go.

#### me I nearly ****ed my pants you ####:D
Pump timing does not and will not make black smoke
As for haynes manuals utter ****e, 5 mins on google will tell you more than a haynes manual ever could

Most of us don't have a computer in our landy's so it's a lot easier to reference the book then google when we're outside. As for the Haynes manuals, why do people still buy them and tbh you get conflicting ways to do things on google and im not saying its always right but Haynes get it right 99% of the time.

*Also if you read the poster said that they didn't know how to check timing, I was purely telling them how to do it, I never said that would cure the black smoke.

Had a good read through some of the guides, I seem to understand why it is happening but think I might have to get someone that knows what there doing to adjust it for me.

Is it the Fuel Screw that needs turining back??

Yes 20 second job, 6 and 13mm spanner, 1/4 of a turn at a time, if you cannot get the 13mm spanner to fit the plastic security collar is still fitted, in which case they have turned the diaphragm, slightly longer job maybe 2/3 minutes.
In a nutshell fuel screw low down power, diaphragm higher revs power.
Each stage of the fueling overlaps the next so not as clear cut as you would think.

The reason computers are not in defenders is the fact we cant keep them dry:D
Still thats what smart phones are for.
