..unfortunatly the car was purchased 2nd hand bought as seen and had been advised the timing belt has just been done when the cam shaft pulley came loose the teeth on the vac pump and camshaft where also destroyed allong with rocker gear and push rods... unfortuantly i was milli seconds to late to turn engine off i was more conentrating on getting home my bar stool LOL

this is why i was more focusing on the fuel injection system in this thread as my 200 had fuel injection issiues prior to the timing issiues my injectors where weak as i had them tested i also found that my bango filter was clogged as you should agree there should be no restriction before the restriction

the engine its self might be bullet proof but the things bolted to engine are not like injectors fuel pumps and to have these can be costly to replace or repair .... lucky for me my fuel injection guy who we use allot through work while i sit on my bar stool tested my injectors for free... he could not repair them and suggested as a brand new set of injectors can some times work out more than you purchased the vehicle


I dont know why anyone would undo the camshaft pulley bolt when doing the cam belt on a 200?

anything is possible when some one before you has had done prior work
the same reason you said you would check the crank shaft pulley bolt first and disregard every other solution

First check the crank damper pulley bolt is tight, not unknown for 200s to come loose causing all sorts of running issues.

so what is the issiue could it be drawing in air dribbly injectors timing etc ?

Why would loose crank pulley cause running issues? there's no crank sensor and all the pulley does is drive the fan and ancillaries, put me right if I've missed something

P.S. them little pipes between the injectors can cause problems if leaking, leak of pipes thats it

Just petty bullsh1t squabbling is pointless. The way I read it the first antagonistic post was by you OBD, however I am not going to be drawn into it.

I would be looking at timing, or fuel systemor the boost pin for the turbo could be stuck causing over fuelling. Drive it with the turbo out of play, as per james Martin

Check simple things first like filters etc and the timing, and the toothed pulleys havent slipped etc before just willy nilly fitting parts.
 
I believe this is the sort of damage slack Damper can cause.

Finally someone who gets it.

What happens is the bolt goes slack, the keyway is a location only device and cannot carry the load required so wears a groove in the crank cambelt pulley causing variable timing, hence the odd smoke and running issues.
You can bodge them with loctite, but a new gear and keyway is the best answer, really bad ones can damage the crankshaft as well.
Like i posted above a well known issue from when they were not that old.

Once repaired mark the head of the bolt and the damper with some paint this will show you straight away if its coming loose.
