Drowned a 200 so you're buying a v8 petrol ?

Smart

why not? its a second vehicle anyway so the fuel cost is not an issue :)
plus it keeps me away from water full stop so it cant happen again :D
and as my main car (TD5 defender ) is a td5 im not willing to take it very deep in water,

guess I just have to buy a 3rd :D

hopefully I will be able to waterproof it enough so it can be used in 3ft or so of water but wont bother trying to go windscreen height !

was thinking of making a project thread out of this as its moving along quickly but probably wont be able to update pics everyday , will hopefully do the swap on the weekend though as its ready to come out and the wiring is done

a few have said that but not as polite ;)

I have been around Trials and competitive driving for 25 years. In my own vehicle on and off for 10 years (Same vehicle) I am not an expert driver or claim to be, I have had my fair share of comps national and local events. If I was given £1 for every person I have met in my life that have got a motor or more recently a "truck" blown £1k £5k or even £30K keeping it going and given up I would be very very rich. Especially of late with the winch challenge taking the new vogue that used to be the Class 1 modified and previous to challenge events the euro trials that used to be so popular. Its just evolution.

Lots of people don't compete on a level where genuine skills are ever learn t or have ever had any tuition. Skills learn t have only ever been taught by play days and poor advice on many a forum/magazine/youtube.

Again nobody is slagging you off if your enjoying it then enjoy...........

What people here are trying to do is save you from the costly, silly mistakes and choices whilst having a laugh. With LZ if you cannot laugh at yourself then you need to grow some or find a sugar coated forum to tell you are wonderful.

In all honesty the forum guys are here trying to help you, Yea a few **** take more than offering genuine advice but help is here.

P.s just because someone owns, buys or even builds a winch challenge truck doesn't mean they are very experienced nor a great driver or fabricator. I have seen so many I wouldn't sit in with properly dodgy cages and design faults.

Yello can you not join a local offroad MSA affiliated club up there??? take part and the motors doing well will show you what works and what doesnt. There are cheaper ways to get strong but an MSA affiliated club will point you right for sure.

Good luck!!

thanks for sharing your knowledge and wisdom there jai its much appreciated and I do see where your coming from , I used to be part of the Pembrokeshire mudslingers/mid wales trialing club ,I competed using a "100 challenge truck while the body was all custom made the underpinnings were not far from standard , I did have my fair share of rollovers but I also had some areas where I scored 0 points when nobody else did , experience comes with doing it /cocking up then doing it differently :)

I also used to do stock cars at mendips and autograss as a juinior with a bog standard mini , I was beating cars which had +60 racing engines with my unknown barn find engines , not up my own arse in the slightest but not new to different compeitions , must say each have their own but trials is defo the cheapest and best value for money :) I purchased a sierra ready built from mendips , when I rolled it on a grasstrack event a few months later the cage snapped in half , it had only been welded half way around and it was not visable when buying it , to say I was angry and slightly disturbed is an understatement !

I try not to break my vehicles too much I do very hardcore offroading on a site owned by a mate, things will break as buying hardent shafts, cvs, ect is currently out of my budget , I was going to get back into trialing with this 90 but after putting so much work into it ill be being more gentle with it from now on so may buy another vehicle to cage up and trial , will use my yellow one for RTV trials I think :)

by the way the v8 was in the disco chassis this morning , tonight I have a running v8 ninety :D
