Hi everyone , I really hope you can help please

I bought a 2006 Range Rover sport 2.7 tdv6

Little back story -

Previous owner driving and went into limp mode , took to garage and they said it was injectors so paid for 6 new injectors. Didn’t help. Then said it was the high pressure pump. Started to strip the car to remove body to do this then owner ran out of money. I bought the car cheap as it was sitting and had it lifted to mine

I’ve since rebuilt it all , new fuel filter , sensors on high pressure pump and it’s running with a slight miss and showing pressure sensor so have one ordered.

My issue is it won’t move. I can select gears and it shows on the dash but it just won’t move. I’ve checked the cable at gearbox. Changed oil etc. no transmission faults showing either

The only codes I’m getting are

U0102 lost comms with tcm (I have removed to check for water damage but non )

B1a98 - local interconnection network bus circuit 1

Oh and it has a new battery as well.

The wheels are free so not seized etc

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated

Cable has nothing to do with it. Look in the owners manual, on some cars as with the P38, a fuse is inserted to select transfer box neutral for towing the car in the event of a breakdown, this results in no drive.
 
I believe it is fuse No 37, if present remove it, you would get a message on the LCD display advising 'TRANSFERBOX NEUTRAL' if the fuse is inserted.

Exactly. These over-complicated excessive ECU cars need the relevant ECU's talking.

@dave7494 you should look at the U0102 & B1a98 errors. The gearbox is probably busy sitting waiting to be told what to do, regardless of the cable position !!
 
Hi everyone thank you very much for the replies and help. I’ve had a look at the fuse 37 and in the manual it says this fuse is for the dynamic stability control. I know that the garage moved the selector to neutral via the plastic lever that is under the gear select in order to get the vehicle pulled on the the recovery.

Is this the correct fuse to try?

I don’t get any messages on the dash about transfer box neutral etc?
 
If the transfer box was in neutral then the park position wouldn't hold the car so wouldn't worry about it.

According to the manuals I have, 2003 onwards uses Fuse 37 in passenger fusebox for transfer neutral and this should display on the dash. The 2008 handbook just says to select Neutral on the transmission & make sure ignition is in position 1.

This said, if the TCM is not communicating, then perhaps the transfer is in neutral, and needs the comms sorting before it will engage again ?

Hi thank you for the information. I will pull the fuse and hope and pray that sorts it. I will post an update in 5 minutes. Thank you again
 
Ok so when I pulled the 37 fuse I got transmission fault limited gears available and F where it shows PRND. Put fuse back in and cleared codes and still does the same unfortunately
 
Guess you will be back to say no it didnt.

They change stuff, so stick with the year of the car. I couldnt find any mention in any of my manuals for that year that mention a fuse for Neutral transfer box for towing only the select N main gearbox.

U0102-87 is a communications error with the Transfer case, not the Transmission. From the workshop manual;

U0102-87 Lost Communication with Transfer Case Control Module - missing message

Possible Causes

 The Terrain Response Control Module has not received one or more expected messages from the Transfer Case Control Module
 High speed CAN circuit communications failure
 Open circuit Transfer Case Control Module, powerfeed
 Open circuit Transfer Case Control Module, ground supply
 Transfer Case Control Module disconnected from the high

Actions

Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system, check the Transfer Case Control Module for DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index. Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system, carry out network integrity test. Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system, re-configure the Transfer Case Control Module. Refer to electrical circuit diagrams, check power feed and ground supplies, to Transfer Case Control Module for open circuit. Check for open circuit Transfer Case Control Module high speed CAN low circuit. Check for open circuit Transfer Case Control Module high speed CAN high circuit, Repair as necessary.

I wonder if during the strip down which stopped they unplugged something that has not been plugged back in.

Or did they lift the body, and nip a wire when they dumped it backdown when money ran out.

Because if the car doesnt know the state of the transfer box it may just say "I am doing nothing"

I know that the body wasn’t removed because the body bolts have not been touched. However they had removed the starter motor and the support bar for the gearbox as they only put 1 bolt back in each side without the nut. Is there a connection on top of the gearbox by any chance?
