Hi again. Another problem, hope someone can shed some light. I have a fuel leak and I can't see where it is coming from. I assumed it would be the high pressure fuel pump regulator, but I have removed the inlet manifold and it is definitely not coming from there. It's intermittent, some times no leak, sometimes quite a big leak.
Could it be the HP pump seals that have gone? It's not easy to get a clear view but the area around the pump looks dry and the fuel seems to be coming from lower than that, though obviously the fuel could be tracking down from the pump and I can't see it. Are there any other places I should check before I assume it's the HP pump?

You can see the diesel dripping from the torx bolt in the centre of the photo.
 
Hi,

The hp fuel pump has 3 covers, it can leak from any cover, one is only visible from under the car.

I'd say high pressure fuel pump is leaking. The fuel lines go to the other side of the engine, so wouldn't leak down the belt side. I assume you've removed the top cover to eliminate injectors and spill line?
 
Yes, I've checked all that, looks like the pump?
I assume the pump can be rebuilt, is it a DIY job? Any pointers on the parts I need?

You will absolutly need a special tool LRT-12-178 to keep the fuel pump sporket in place and to remove the pump.

You can change the seals yourself but if there is problem you need to remove the pump again.

Or you can send the pump to a diesel specialist that can fix it and the more important testing it.
