Please give me some advice.
Visually checked all bushes joints springs etc.
Replaced dampers with monroe gas shocks
Had tracking re set.
Still dont seem to be correct.
please help

may sound supid but have you checked the tyre pressures?, remember my disco 1 rolling a lot, till i put some air in them

Have you driven another disco with 18" wheels to compare it to or has yours deteriorated noticably over time? i have the same setup and mine is quite sensitive to bumps in the road and it does roll a bit. are you getting any strange clunks or knocks from the suspension???

No knocks etc, only disco ive driven. What tyre pressures do you run at?
Checked all bushes today, crow barred what I could all seems ok.
Put the two best tyres on the front to see if it improves

Mine's on 18's and hardly rolls at all. It had 16's on it when i bought it and i did notice a difference in the way it drives. It's a much harder ride but rolls loads less, infact on the country roads it's pretty impressive. But it tram tracks (if thats the correct terminology??) a lot more. Infact on certain roads it's damn annoying! I assume it's down to the wider tyres than the 16's. My 200 tdi and 300 tdi's both rolled a lot more. Changing the tyres on the 300 made a massive difference!

body roll is controlled by the ACE system - my 2001 disco has very little roll at all - it corners great

It may be your 18" wheels that cause a harsher ride - noticed that with mine when i first got it & have heard it said several times that the 18" wheels notice the bumps more than the 16" ones - especially for the rear passengers!

i have my tyre pressures set at 28 front & 35 rear (helps lessen the bumps a bit)

int it obvious, if yer got bigger wheels on , yer have smaller profile tyres. as a fair amount of suspension is yer actual sidewall you in effect take away some of the shock absorbtion by uppin yer wheel size.

this improves cornering , usually, and stiffens up yer ride resulting in more bumps and shocks finding there way through the vehicle body.

if you want to do it properly , when you go up a wheel size you should really change yor springs for slightly bouncier ones

yup - as Slob says the tyre (or the air in it) forms part of the suspension so - less sidewall = harsher ride

think you'll find that most TD5's with 18" wheels came like that - as all TD5 GS & ES spec models came with 18" wheels as standard & cos mine's got 3 almost new & 1 brand new tyres on it (about £900 worth of wheels & tyres) - it's a bit expensive to change them to 16's

I have a 2002 Td5 Disco and it does not roll as it has ace but it is quite harsh over bumps and I read in the forum that Goodyear Wranglers which I have fitted are the caause. Dont know what tyres you have but could be worth a check.:)

Willis, your concerns are all going to be relative to what you were driving before you bought a discovery and wether or not you have owned a large 4x4 previously. Before i bought my disco i had an audi a6 quattro sport 2.8 which was quick, stiff, and cornered very well with almost zero body roll so in comparison the disco was like a thames barge. I had owned a hilux surf before the audi so was expecting the disco to roll but in all fairness as others have posted it does corner very well (for a big 4x4) and does not have loads of body roll (for a big 4x4). so in short if your last car was lowslung, sporty, and quick then you are going to take a while to get used to the disco.

yep - I've heard that about the wranglers as well - same ones on mine - but seeing as I haven't driven a td5 with 16" wheels I can't really compare it.

Hi,
Thanks for all your help fellow owners, I have fitted pirelli scorpion st's all round and the difference with the correct tyre pressures is as good as it will get i think.
Any one else with Monroe adventure shocks fitted?
How do you rate?
