Thats me:D actually only gambling I have ever done is one or maybe two lottery tickets per year as I reckon its a mugs game, like any gambling.

are yu suggesting the " no idea ossifer. i bought it like that" approach?

No that would be lying, maybe i had the pump refurbed by a guy on the internet and it now goes much better, so more a white lie that cant be disproved/proved either way, or buy a 2nd hand pump off of ebay then whos to say or know whats been done to it?

Ive had plenty of cars that would fit into the officer category! but I think as you get older you get more cautious as you have much more to lose and not much less time to claw it back.
 
I'm thinking of trying one might be a while but will post up what I think if I get one , didn't think you could tweak a Defender that much that other people could tell you've supped it up :D.

Not planning on fitting one, just got side lined by those youtube videos. I'd just like to get mine working as it's supposed to, I'd be happy with that. I'll get there, eventually..................:rolleyes:

No you will never do that as the snag list never gets any shorter, I know Ive got three land rovers!
 
I know many sport motorcyclists who have done loads of mods to their bikes, many of them performance mods, some just cosmetic. None of the ones I know bothered to tell their insurers about the mods. Some of them have had bike accidents and made insurance claims. I have never heard of one single instance where the insurer has disputed the claim on the grounds of unreported modifications. There was even one case where a big scooter rider had fitted a car tyre to his rear wheel and come unstuck but still got paid out by his insurers. I often think forums like this are where urban myths are born.

Anyone know anything about which boost pins are best ?The two shops that sell the boost rings have two different ones on offer one is made by Chris Mason (Cheshire) and the other one is made by Morgan Hill in Sweden.

Cheers neilly have heard a lot about some of these pins being to soft so thought I'd better ask . Found out a bit about the Morgan hill ones, apparently he is the guy who made the first one and everyone else copied them .

Ordered my boost ring and pin today am off on me jollys next week so will post up what I think when I get back.

Got a 110 200 tdi , ordered from fourby so brought the Morgan hill boost pin as well, have got a full width intercooler, pipercross air filter and have just started playing with the boost and pump. Have turned the pin and turned the star wheel but doesn't seem much different, and am running at 0.9 boost got a bit more left to turn then the actuator is at the end of its threaded rod. Will be a week or so before I will be able to have a play but will post up what I think.

From a purely selfish point of view, I would be interested to know if you try the pin first then see if you notice any improvement when fitting the ring. Mine is currently tuned with a boost pin. Boost is showing at 1-1.1 bar on gauge.

I bought 2 sets of pins and rings at kelmarsh. One for the project 90 and the other for the 110 after seeing lots of good reviews about them. I'll fit it to the 90 when I get round to it but that'll be off the road for another few months, and I'll be fitting it to the 110 this weekend hopefully after I've got a new front prop for it :eek:

I don't know much about turbos but that doesn't sound good. I've seen them running much higher on much less adjustment

Adjusting you wastegate or even totally removing the pipe to the actuator will only achieve so much boost on std fuelling, tweak the max fuel screw and off you go.
 
I thought the fuel pin also influenced max fuel?
boost pins were made to get the turbo boosting lower down the rev band i believe. first ive heard of these boost rings, i haven't been online for a while.... seems another 40 quid to throw at it and try i suppose... altho I'm sure my truck would go a lot faster if i found a way to empty the chassis rails of sand and slop from off roading...
