It's perfect. :D

I'm sure this is the same stuff that Halford sell under their own brand label.

With the Halfords trade card I get the little 250ml bottles at the same price per litre. Very handy - no messy measuring and great for long trips.

so for me I think the larger 5 Litre would be the best way to go,
and measure out 250-300 ml into a bottle to put in the boot...

Halfords are often out of stock of the little bottles as folks like me buy them 10 at a time as they are the cheapest to be found - if you have a trade card. Very handy they are too. :D

Done 3 tanks of diesel so far, and now getting about 1mpg more than the first tank full, not a lot but I think that's about an extra 10 miles to the tankfull so makes up for the cost of buying the 2 stroke,
also I found an old 250mm redex diesel bottle so makes it easier to measure each time
 
Just did my first fill with Comma 2 stroke,
adding at about 275ml for the fill up, :)

Panda Pop Bottle, :D

will update if I find anything good or bad.. :decision:
 
I've just stuck 200ml in a full tank today. Not done any miles since, but I'll keep an eye on it! At the same time. I added half a bottle of Redex for good measure!
 
Well, I've just read everyone of the 27 pages and then ordered a 5l bottle of 2t mineral oil for my local factors. Pennies short of 20 quid.

This will be going in our Defender 90 TD. Will see what differences I get.

It had a full service less than 1k ago so all should be clean and there is only 98k on the clock.

Bloody good thread with plenty of interesting points.

What a difference it makes. The torque at low rev's is fantastic now.
Starts better with almost no smoke at all.
I wish I had read this thread sooner.

The mix appears to between 200-1 and 300-1 so as long as you stick somewhere near the ratio Matt I don't suppose it matters.

I have a 750ml bottle with 3 big marks thirds and 3 dots in between.

Working on full or half tanks to get it near most times.
 
i normally end up maybe £20 a week fuel unless im going somewhere

dnt use the car as much as i would like but thats with all the problems i have had with it putting it right is a case of saving so being tight on use age helps saves the penny's

Maybe I'll give the 2-stroke oil idea a try soon. Sound a good idea as it can't be much different from what I'm putting in now. Perhaps better. Will report back.

ATF not the best additive as its not designed to burn, though have read mixed feelings on this.
2 stroke oil is designed to burn relatively cleanly while still giving lubrication to the engine, have used usual additives to reduce emmisions and keep injectors happy and these work ok, but from what I have read, and have read a lot on this now it seems that the semi or non synthetic 2 stroke oil is the way forward.
Will try in in my 110, my Escort van and the motor home and see what happens!:D:D
 
This thread started a year or so ago and I haven't the time to re-read all 270 odd posts, including my own.

But for those who haven't seen an even older thread (blatantly pinched from another forum) I suggest you read this which for me was very re-assuring as I had heard all sorts of scary stories about what harm 2-Stroke might do to the engine in general and specifically to the Diesel Particulate Filter.

I've been using the cheapest mineral-based 2-stroke for some time now and will continue to do so in all my diesel-engined vehicles.

Before the 2-stroke I was adding ATF (an old-time trucker trick) in the same quantity - but 2-stroke is definitely better.

I regularly add mineral 2 stroke to my diesel. I started after I read up on BMW's findings and I discovered that the German army uses it.
 
Hi all still using 2 stroke and TD4 still oing like a train at 145k - not burning oil - smoke almost eradicated on startup.
