2.5TD how to get correct coolant level?

Well, drove it home 15 miles just now. It sits steady just over 12 o clock til you need the power for going up hill for example, when you have it sitting at 3k or so revs for a wee while the temp climbs back up to red.

I took it easy and it sat fine, again just past 12. Still got the old issue of overheating with the foot down but fine otherwise...

I would get a sniff test as sounds like you have a cracked head

cost of a head and gaskets, tools if you don't have them, plus either your time or a garage time to change over?

You can get the complete kit for £50 to £60 or so if you look around.

Look how much LRT-54-006 is, made one of those last year. Cost about £45.00 or so.

Have you checked the viscous fan? Do the rolled up newspaper test. Your fault is typical of a failed viscous fan, or a cracked head. If you are lucky, it's the viscous.
If you remove the cap of the expansion tank when the engine is hot, the water will immediately overflow, this is because when you release the pressure, the coolant will boil. Increasing the pressure raises the boiling point.

Why does it overflow out the expansion tank when i turn the engine off When its up to temp?

yes was overheating at higher revs/speed

viscous fan was recently replaced with a brand new one.

Check the new one isn't faulty
