as title says my 1984 90 currently has a knackered ex military 2.5td not tdi and it's going to be replaced by either a 2.5 n/a or 2.25
Things I want from my engine
Lots of parts
Extremely reliable
Fix anywhere with bail twine
Originality
Noisy and slow yes I'm mad
Driving pleasure the engine in it is beautiful to drive I usually drive puma since I've driven her around the farm illigely I've fallen in love with it my mother has said she'll buy new chassis not that is that bad repairable but she wants it to last forever so it's going to get new chassis and rebuilt engine and maybe gearbox and clutch whist there at it and I'll do the rest myself
And was wondering what engine
Evan

they are very prone to bore wear as are all landy engines till the tdi but if you get a good one will give you reasonable service

Get the 2.5 na

Paint it duck egg blue.

Actually is not a bad engine for off road either, it just plods along. Also **** easy to work on.

Already planned that and the chassis as it was originally same colour as engine just powder coated over it

The 2.5 is a great, simple engine, and parts are easily available. A bit slow in modern traffic, but ime very happy up to 50mph. A tdi is in another league, and a pretty easy conversion

As said before tdi isn't an option it wasn't on it originally so
