If you're worried just take a jump pack to start it and get it on the trailer. If it's been standing for years and started with a jump start you may be lucky just changing the battery. mf31-1000 is the one recommended for the diesel from battery mega store I think the name was. Last time I used them mine cost £96 next day delivery.
Haven't got a jump pack, just the battery orf me campervan and some jump leads. The jump leads will have to be left connected whilst driving it on to the recovery truck/trailer as it conks when the jumpers are disconnected, which may be entertaining! Battery on me lap and leads through the driver's window?
Best if I swop the batteries out really but I'm not sure I have the eka codes with it. The Doris has done some googling and read that if the car is unlocked and not immobilised, you can remove the leads and reconnect to a new battery and it won't feck things up? The car will stay in the same state as before battery swop but something's need resetting, think she said sunroof?
I also think she said you have to do the swop within a certain time.
I just ignored her at the time as my mind was elsewhere.
The handjob battery is out of stock on the link.

Except the original 13.8V setpoint will kill it.

She is probably right as it wasn’t bothered last time.
Just connect the battery, swapping won’t make a difference it’s the waking up in a mood if anything. If it was unlocked before it went down you’ll have no immobiliser issues.
Edit - provided you do nothing to set it off

Leave the drivers door wide open too

So yer best option is to change the battery with the bonnet closed.

Instead of a trailer could yer get one of those hi-ab muck away trucks to shift it?

At 20 years old its probably lost a quarter of its weight due to natural 'shrinkage'. ;)

Call the AA and ask for a quote to move it. Saves faffing around with trailers. With fewer peeps on the road they will have more spare capacity than normal. They can winch on/oft anorl. Seen a D4 on one on the m6 today and thought of you. Towing a snail shell anorl. That's their holiday stuffed.

Good point but easy to check the alternator output with a multi meter and easily rectified, boom boom. Do a search 14.7 alternator set point.

If there's any life in the battery that's fitted then slacken the earth clamp bolt on the battery, turn the ignition on,then off and remove the earth lead within 17 seconds. Remove the keys AND PUT THEM IN YOUR POCKET. Fit the new battery, resetting the windows, sunroof and radio code can be done at a later time.

For some reason my scrapper needed the EKA every time I connected the battery. I'd reset everything and get the fob resynced and then at the end of the day disconnect the battery and it still did it. Switched it off with diag once I got the diag port working.
