1997 P38 RR, Engine Disabled & EKA doesnt work :( HELP

well then , check your policy !!!!!! and ring your insurance company and ask them ... the clue is in the wording "modification " that means its NOT factory fitted and it is a modification to the original spec !!!!!!!! one thing I do know is vechicle insurance having had 5 artics and various other vechiles on a policy covering my old business , plus my wife being a insurance underwriter for 22 yrs till she retired last year,, so there it is data !!!!

Comercial truck and domestic insurace are not the same. I had a fleet of 35 cars at one time, tow hitch wiring was not notifiable, maybe things have changed.
If mine burns and the insurance will not pay out, I'll just get another but not have comp insurance.
As far as I'm aware, only mods that affect performance or safety are notifiable.

These insurance companies are getting very clever now.
If your range rover has had an ecu change, & the vins don't match your insurance becomes invalid.
I do work for a couple of insurance companies in pulling the mileage from accident damaged Land rovers, so they can pay the so called true value minus their kick in the nuts. I also have to relay information if the engine ecu has been chipped.

For the chap who has Keycode lockout. Don't change the ecu's. I can sort your problem out properly for you for less than the purchase of the ecu's, & you never have to change any locks, for any other reason that the locks failing themselves.

That's not clever, that's plain stupid. Swapping one standard ECU for another is just maintenance or repair, does fitting a new clutch or auto box make the insurance invalid? The principle is the same.
Sounds like the old insurance "any excuse to avoid paying".

Yes. Exactly that. Any excuse for not paying out.
With the vin numbers different it becomes a bitzer. Bit's of different vehicles.
With the L322's they request the off road data, to see how often the vehicle was used off road.

They obviously do not understand that this data can be modified.

Was just curious to see people's thoughts on changing the becm, ecu, locks keys etc. I notice a few people on eBay selling them too so must be a demand for it??
