1995 P38 Engine Disabled

So the battery was disconnected on my Range Rover, then reconnected. The keyless entry didnt work when I pushed it, and when I unlocked it and opened the door the alarm went off, so I tried to turn it on, and it said the engine is disabled. I cant figure out how to get it unarmed. Its a 1995 North America Range Rover, can anybody help me?
 
Your posts came at 3.30 and 4.15 British time so I'm not surprised that you've not had any replies.

I can't speak with any confidence for the American set-up but if this happens on a British car then I would be trying the EKA code, key re-syncing and then if necessary the re-sync between the BECM and the engine.

Might I politely suggest that you use these terms and try a search on this forum or RangeRovers.net. You might start getting some ideas before the established British experts on here even wake up.
 
Sorry, I thought their might be more people over here on here too.

I tried the EKA code, but couldnt get it to acknowledge the code. 1515? isnt it?
I dont get lights on the dash saying anything.

Which EKA procedure did you follow ?.The procedure for up 1996 is Not to do the first four initial turns.Do any of the exterior lights flash when you turn the key?.If not it is likely the microswitch in the door lock has failed.

Morning (well over here anyways - and fecking cold too)

The EKA is unique to your vehicle, so we couldn't comment on if yours is correct, Land Rover NA would confirm this for you....

As indicated, the '96 vintage didn't require the 4 LOCK turns before the code entry IIRC....

Have you resynced the remote fobs for the central locking....from memory you have to put the key in the door lock turn it to the LOCK position and press the LOCK button, then turn to the UNLOCK position and press the UNLOCK button, then put the key in the ignition and turn to position 2, this should resync the remote Central Locking....

As for the ENGINE DISABLED....try the EKA if it isn't registered, than also as mentioned the door lock microswitch could be knackered and not sending the door lock movements to the BeCM...

Often times the BeCM and the Engine ECU lose sync with each other, and needs to be re-synched using a diagnostic device or the SyncMate tool from Blackbox Solutions....

The NAS spec P38 does not have Individual vehicle EKA codes,but uses the generic 1515.

The key fobs will not resync if the vehicle is in an alarmed/disabled state.
 
I think the EKA method is turned off on your market range rover within the Becm under the drivers seat, so entering any EKA code will not work. I have never been told by anyone i know who says there even is a 1515 code to be had. or even more worked.

Some say leave door open, put key in position 2 in ignition, remove negitive lead from battery, wait 5 mins then reconnect. this bumps the immobiliser to read the Ecu and starts up after this. then you just need to resync the key.

I have to say i have never done this so calnt confirm it will work. And as already stated if the Becm has gone into an armed state you will then need to have this sorted out via a diagnostic method.

A tool sold by blackbox solutions (syncmate) can sometimes work and take the Becm out of lockout but have again never tried one.

There is a lot of info on RR.net regarding the 1515 code used on NAS RR.
Numerous posts as well confirming it has worked.

The battery disconnect method is worth a shot as it has worked in some cases and not in others.

The syncmate works well when sync between BECM and engine ecm is lost.In this event there are no message centre messages regarding engine disabled etc.Very interested to hear if it has reset a locked out/alarmed BECM.
 
Ok, where is the 1515 code stored? i have never seen this showing via the Becm Cpu diagnostics. I have seen where it has been corrupted and showing a letter then three numbers or just three numbers, I've also turned the EKA off but nothing was showing in the EKA section, just the old EKA that was set when the Rang rover left the production line. I'm sure that the Faultmate running SM035 software would show this code.

It would be nice to have a user of this code to let me know and what year and either petrol or diesel and what software the Becm is running as this would help me in working on Becm's, the more i know the better i can help people.

I dont know how this is achieved.i too have Sm035 and have not seen 1515.But then I dont think I have seen a NAS BECM.
 
Okay so here what the problem was, yesterday was a very cold day, some how it froze the mechanism so it didnt recognize the key had unlocked it. Today was warmer, and it thawed out, so I unlocked it, and it started right up.
