1984 LR 90 what's my colour

Air filter will be corrected in the morning. Everything underneath has been well and truly blathered in Lanoguard. Fully serviced inc gearbox, transfer box and both diffs oil changed. Bits greased that needed it other than that, can't think what else needs doing. Did have a look at changing the swivel joint oil but couldnt find either a drain or fill point.
 
Swivel hub fill/level is the square head plug on the side, drain small bolt at the bottom on the same side but chances are there wont be much in there if you have signs of leakage Just refill and see what happens.:)
 
There is a course thread sender unit and a fine thread sender unit. Info hidden on Steve Parker website. Do please let me know how you get on, same issue on my son's Ninety and yet to deal with it.

It did not fit mine. I needed to get the Steve Parker adapter. There is a fine and a course thread version. So you need to take it out to
Check which is required. They are fairly obvious which you have or you can count the threads.
 
The colour is Trident Green LRC325.
The temp sender is PRC6663.
So I purchased a PRC6663. Thread was coarser than my other however it did screw in and is water tight. Went for a long drive and temp gauge returned to the 3/4 mark just under red. Put mt temperature probe on the thermostat housing and the hottest it got was 70 degrees. Both top and bottom hoses were hot so the thermostat is opening. So even after splashing out £17 its still the same !

If it only got to 70 degrees then your rad hose shouldn't be hot. My boys 200tdi has new thermostat and after a full day's driving the top hose will be hot, lower hose warm as the rad works well and is only a few years old.

Yes same with mine, top hose hot, bottom hose is warm. Plenty of heat from the heater. I guess I will just have to live with the incorrect temp gauge. Main thing is that its not overheating.

Must have got hotter for the thermostat to open, is it a new one?
It's always a worry nagging at you when the temperature reads hot although you know its not over heating.

Yes I think its new, I found it in the dash tray. It could have been taken out by the previous owner thinking it was overheating when it wasn't !
I like things to work as they should so yes, the gauge is irritating, I just need to get over it !
