1983 110 SW agreed value

Hi all.

My 1983 110 total rebuild is done and I'm wrangling with the agreed value for the insurance (FJ)

It's on a Richards chassis which has been painted in black poly and has an galv ashtree bulkhead, The axle cases trailing arms. A frame and radius arms also blasted and painted in black poly too.

New swivels, new steering box, rear disc conversion, goodridge lines, new clutch, master, and slave. New timing belt on the disco 200tdi.

Bare metal respray, all doors repaired (Ally sliding glass tops)

Modern Puma era seats installed front and rear, with correct brackets into the chassis for the 3 full rear seat belts.

Everything I came across was sorted or renewed.

As far as I'm concerned, to replace it with a similar vehicle would be nigh on impossible, unless I was to take another 2 years of evenings and weekends to do another one, so I'm looking for your recommendations of where to get it valued. I'm in NE Scotland.

I think I'm going to have this problem when I've done mine.. the pricing on defenders is really random though

A good 300 tdi freshly refinished on a galv chassis can see 10k+ I'm not sure how much the diffirence is for 200 though.
Is that dark green or grey I can't seem to tell

What did you ask the insurer for? If you can prove what you spent they may be more amicable receipts etc for big things
Looks really nice by the way I'm thinking a similar colour scheme

It's corris grey. Santorini black roof, bonnet, rear door.

I'd seen a restored 1983 3 dr 110 advertised for 25k from a dealer, and I've been quite a bit less optimistic than that.

To replace it tomorrow with one in the same condition is where I'm struggling. This one is as rot free, and as rot proof as it's possible to get, and that's why I built it like that.

Dealers have them on for stupid money though. Look on auto trader and there's some for 20 ish. What have you spent roughly? Im hoping my 90 will get a 15k ish value and it'll be like a 10k build. Who knows maybe more I'll be asking much the same when it's done
What did you ask for 20? I've only had proper looks at 90s so might be off what yours will get
It's hard to find similar examples to get proper pricing especially if yours isn't standard
Who did you insure with flux?
And I might use that paint it's nice. That or a really dark green/black combo I saw. Was thinking metallic grey but it's so common now

Our 1988 110 CSW is insured with Admiral and has an agreed value of £6k....all it was was fill out a form, supply information and photos....negotiate and job done.

I'd try for mid to late teens plenty of pics and other examples screen some off auto trader or landyzone lro etc with prices
And explain individual costs I'm sure you'll get close

I keep a spreadsheet of all the costs of keeping ours in good order - it's tedious in the extreme,

but I include the cost of my time for doing the spreadsheet in the costs,

and also have agreed value insurance. I hope I never have to make a claim - insurers are not exactly know for their philanthropy

If you've spent most evenings and weekends working on this, I don't think you'll be talking hundreds of hours - more likely in the thousands.

Nice landy by the way, and rather nice surroundings too

I like the bike, I ride a Norco threshold. Anyway, having been through a couple of rebuilds unfortunately I'd have to say you'd be lucky to get your money back - unless you meet a buyer who knows what your work is worth. I'd try to get it insured for what you put into it, if they won't accept that, maybe 15k.

I keep a costs sheet for mine but I never thought to do man hours...all for the fun haha
I'm hoping it at least is worth what I've paid... not as fussed for hours cos it's fun and learn a lot...keeps me busy haha

I spent nearly 8k on a Series III 88", sold for 2. Gutted, but as alex says you do it for the love of the vehicle/learning/hobby.
