I understand that one of the easiest ways to get a 12v switched feed in the cabin is from the cigarette socket. Is there a simple route to run a lead from here to the glovebox? I had a poke around behind the stereo as I need to run a cable from there to the glovebox too but couldn't fine an obvious route through.

I tried removing the side trim by the glovebox but after removing the 2 obvious screws I couldn't see how to get the panel out, is that info in RAVE?

If you mean the trim on the side of the tunnel. One end is held by the window switch panel and the other is up under the dash panel. Oh, and it lips over the tunnel top. You've got to sort of lift it and twist it and push it down, all at the same time. You might find it easier experimenting with the driver's side first as there you don't have to work round the glove box lid.

Why do you want 12volt in the glove box?
Would 12volt in the cubby box do? Then you can take a feed from the ciggy lighter straight back under the selector panel and light panel and up through the base of the cubby box.

Cubby box could be an option actually... Basically I want 12v power alongside an aux in input. I got a kit that replaces the CD changer input (mine is broken anyway) with an aux in which works really well in my quick testing. I guess I'd have to try and drop the aux in lead down behind and under the HEVAC panel to get it through to the cubby, possible?

Awkward but definitely possible. I took a power feed from the ciggy lighter and a feed from the back of the stereo to a mount on the dash for an ipod.
The most useful tool that I found was a 2 foot long cable tie. They're stiff enough to stick through a gap but stiff enough to travel in a sort of straight line. I shoved one through where I wanted, then connected the wire to it and gently pulled it back.

Remove two screws from inside front top of cuddy box. Lift up switch pack. Remove one screw from rear of gear selector bezel. Lift off bezel. Cig lighter feed is visible. Remove two screws from L/H side panel, slide panel back and down to remove. Remove six screws from glove box allow box to fall down. Run cable from splice on cig lighter feed to back of glove box. Then do what you want with it and replace all removed. About twenty minutes work.

Sounds good, when you say slide the side panel back, is that toward the dash or away from it?

Up at back and then down and down and back away from dash at front, it clips into facia panel. You will have to lever back up slightly. It is usually held by some sticky anti vibration padding.

If you dont want to remove alot of parts, why not just take a 12v feed off the stereo power. Only need to take the headunit out and lower the glove box to poke the feed through...

Failing that, there is loads of space under all the trim to the cubby box to run leads. Have done so on mine.
