hi
i've got D reg 110 county - been noticing oil leak from bottom of swivel - drips when parked..got worse then
.... brakes uneven - inspected and saw oil on discs/pads.
am i right in thinking this is from the axle as it's coming out down the disc now? also coming out the bottom of the swivel - in fact looks like everybloodywhere!
jeez.
i know i'm going to have to strip and rebuild the swivel now - any kit of parts that ppl would recommend?
is there a seal that is supposed to keep axle oil in there?
pants.

its oil or grease from the swivel housing there is a seal, and if chrome ball is pitted badly you will need a full kit google da3167

I got all the bits I needed from LRSeries, all genuine but came in OEM packaging, including pattern cv joint,Timken swivel bearing and wheel bearings which you might not need it cost just over 100 quid,

I got the teflon coated swivel kit from paddocks and that has been happily fitted for the last 8 years with no sign of pitting. Although i would always fit OEM wheel bearings which you may as well do while it is fully stripped down. If the the swivel ball is not pitted you can get just the refurb kit with bearings, bushes and seals without the ball for a lot less money.

The seal to keep the diff oil in the axle is in the back of the ball joint from memory and comes as part of the kit.

thanks all, i'll get the wallet out.
why does this always happen in the winter a few weeks from my MOT ffs.

also need to change my gearbox but there's engine oil coming out the hole in bottom of bell housing - is this the rear crankshaft seal and can i change it with relative ease with box off and engine still in truck?!

jeez.

You should be able to, but I can only speak for the earlier engines. Gearbox out, clutch and fly wheel off, then carefully remove and refit the crank seal.
