110 Back end swing

Have a defender 110 that has started throwing the back end out when I take my foot of the accelerator, like it is crabbing and then the front swings out. Any ideas what is causing it.

Classic rear end steer. Cause is worn bushes and or fixings [ holes in the brackets wearing over size ] at one or both ends of the trailing rods for the rear axle. Worth checking all bushes front and rear though.

Check the big bushes where the rear trailing arms mount on the chassis.

If you park on level ground, handbrake off then get someone to use a breaker bar on the rear wheel nuts and rock the vehicle back and forth whilst you look for movement you'll see the play and maybe hear it. On mine I was also getting a clonk on drive take up.
As said, axle bracket holes going oval is common and that's what it was on mine. That will need welding.
New bushes after and new bolts too will sort that out for years.

So is it fixed??

I used to have a trials motor based on a 1980 Range Rover and could only get aftermarket bushes for the trailing arms. I found that the quality was appalling, I could destroy a pair in one event.

I'm guessing that was Comp Safari?? I used to RTV a 1980 RR, had no problems with bushes, (except the ones I drove through, but thats another story)
