Replacing the engine loom is my aim here.

A battery drain problem has finally been worked out.

Bought defender recently as a runaround. Has already been promoted to daily driver.

However, there has been a battery drain issue overnight since I got it.

Turns out short circuit happening near the alternator. There are two big wires and a small thin one. The small thin one had burned off its sheath and was shorting against the big two by burning through their sheaths too.

Have done a bodge fix for now by cutting and soldering in replacement wiring to the alternator from about 2 foot back from it, but wiring will be damaged beyond that so want to replace the loom.

Question is, LR don't appear to sell these looms anymore?

Where to get hold of the right replacement loom for alternator and starter?

Thanks for now

I made my own for my 90 with a 19J- should be similar for a 200tdi. Get the correct-coloured wires and all the fittings, then use the old loom as a guide for getting wire lengths right. Should be wires for alternator, starter, glow plugs, low volt light, oil pressure switch and temperature sender.

I looked into building my own how ever for a time vs cost basisi , autosparks won hands down.

Although im capible i decided that my time was more valuable than what autosparks charge for a plug and play loom.

Been very happy with mine.

Also fwiw , how bad is yours .....if its only that one wire damaged , just run a newun the full length and be done.

They have to be pretty ****ed before then need changing.....

Mines had been hacked into by previous owner who seemd to run blackpool illuminations off the front without relays !

Melted.

Top drive mines melted literally. Auto sparks it is.

Flying Pete I wouldn't know where to get the connectors eg alternator one

Thank you
