04 spotlights/fog lights wiring help

Can I ask is that coming out of the rectangle grey plug from the front of the fuse box or the rear one?

I’ve wired mine up to the rear plug as it’s what the manual suggest.

Just to clarify we’re talking about the same thing it’s the pods which are in the bumper? I’ve put a picture of mine up so you can see.

Yes the lights in the pods - here's a pic of mine too.
I had no manual - just a couple of wires loose in the glove box. Had to work out the wiring from the engine bay to the glovebox and the switch so I could work out what needed to be connected where, to get illumination to the switch and to provide power to make the relay work the lights. After a bit of research and looking at RAVE for the feed wires, I realised that the colours of the cables I needed to connect were the same as the ones already in the loom in the fuse box. I found the cables from the front of the box (looking at it from the drivers footwell) going into the grey plug at the top. As I had no manual I didn't realise that it's better to go from the back....but it seems fine doing as I did.

So basically you’ve traced it from the ‘switch wires’ to the fuse box then you’ve scotched clipped the wire from the loom provided with the kit to the wires from the switch into the fuse box?

Funny you should say that because the light in the fog switch to indicate their on isn’t lighting up but you can hear it clicking in the relay.

Yes that is what I did. Mine now works so the switch itself illuminates when any lights are on like all other switches ( I think that was the red/orange wire ) and then when full beam is on, the relay activates to light the driving lights and a small red light comes on the switch itself too.

Can finally say I got these working, but honestly they are a pig to fit!

I have those but the covers have never been off so not much help here

Do they come on with the fog lights? That must be fun for other road users

Hi Bute, the plastic casing surrounding them do come off with a little screw just underneath then they turn and twist off.

If your referring to the H3 or H5 bulb (which ever it is) yes they do, obviously with all this long days and hot weather we’re having I’ve not yet fully tried them out properly but they seem pretty bright enough as their a 55w

Hi Nodge68.

I can see your point as no one on this thread has been thorthcoming enough with the clarity on how to fit these.

1) Honestly the best way to fit these in my opinion is pull the cup holder out

2) run the wire that comes with the kit up behind the dash (to the back of fog lamp and wiper switches are).

3) the plug for front fog lamp splice the (black and brown wire) and expose the wire.

4) electrical tape the end of the wire that came with the kit to the spliced wire together.

And hey presto when you turn the switch on and off it it creates a connection!!!

Were not talking about aftermarket driving lights, it’s genuine Land Rover front pod fog lamps.
