04 Ranger Gas Mileage

When i first bought my 04 Ranger 4.0 auto, i was getting 25 mpg on the
freeway, now at 12,000 mi i am only getting 18 mpg on the freeway. I am
driving it the same way as when i got it.
Any ideas?

That's pretty new for a Fuel Pressure Regulator to go bad but that's
what it sounds like. Is it running rich, can you smell it pretty
strong? My '91 Explorer went from 23mpg to 14mpg overnight some years
ago and it was the FPRegulator. If that's what it is you'll have to
clean or replace O2 sensors after replacing the FPR.
