Just called Adrian Flux for a quote and they came back at £1850 for a 110 defender, unmodified, 1998. We are both around 40, no points etc. Infact we are pretty boring. I pay about 750 a year for a T5 lwb worth a lot more money and with 9 seats. I’d rather go with a “specialist” but the online standard companies are coming in around £380. Unfortunately our area isn’t covered by NFU, any others I could try? Thanks in advance, Leah

I would check why your being hammered first. In Manchester England just outside London Europe area we have issues with postcodes. I suspect having valuable Defender for thieves especially Stripum Clubs and Floggit OnEbay delivery service plus near a popular postcode might be the painful hit.

I'd try Academy. They are very reasonable.
I wondered that but they quoted our T5 lwb at £2500 2 years ago and when we looked around it came in at £750 so it seems to be Adrian Flux. I did ask during the call and she didn’t have any reason. I don’t expect to pay pennies but the quote is ridiculous. I guess I’d like to find an insurer who Would be able to insure modifications in the future.

They were very reasonable for me when I had similar vehicle and still are now with D2.
I had a mileage of 5000 because it was not my first vehicle, id taken the rear seats and front centre seat out so only a 5 seater, I had it garaged when at home and I was 50+ at the time. Mods were listed but very basic, full roof rack, tow bar, winch bumper, etc. and cost was £117.
Big difference has to be location, I'm in North Wales.
I think it must be location for them. Our mileage is low, under 7000 so not that. Just odd that the location seems to be such an issue for them but not an issue for other companies. I’ll get on to all the other suggestions this morning. We have had decent quotes from standard insurers so it’s not a huge problem, just surprised.

Drop the rep on here a pm, and ask him to sort out a sensible quote for you.
Alternatively, if the vehicle is stock/unmodfied, just go on the standard comparison sites, and add in your details.
