Sold the Range Rover and bought my very first Land Rover Series II - 88 - 1960
Absolutely love it but lots of work needed and always appreciate any advice or input to help me bring her back to concourse condition.

Yes indeed, Series 2 are my favourite looking Land Rover and arguably the best.

In my humblest of opinions I would dispense with the concourse plan and go for good useable.

^^ beat me to it! These vehiels were not "concourse" when they left the factory. I would go far more with the usable, reliable, and tidy rather than perfect. if you make it perfect you will not want to use it properly. When I rebuilt my series III I did everything mechanically, new chassis and bulkhead but the body work just got a rub down and paint, I did not bother removing dents etc. Because of that I am happy to use it in the rain, in the winter, rub it against the hedge green laning and throw the muddy dog or some tools in the back. it still keeps its working heritage, and still does some work when needed.

It also means I am focused on using it rather than the rivet counting perfection of how it left the factory, which surprisingly enough is how the land rover factory worked when making them in the first place. They used what they had available in the factory parts bin, which is how you can get vehicles with earlier and later parts on from the factory as bits were used up!

1 month down the road and engine is now overhauled and drive as well as expected.

Bodywork next and interior.

I do have one question, these engines used leaded fuel, obviously they only have unleaded.

I have heard various options would appreciate some feedback
1 - use premium unleaded
2 - use unleded with an additive, if so which additive for my petrol engine would you guys recommend

I am more for making it worth driving not fussed about concourse condition as won't want to get it dirty, so what's the point of opening such a wonderful; beast.

Looks pretty tidy but at the same time giving you enough to tinker with.
Fan belt looks out of alignment or maybe it's the angle of the photo.
I just used to use unleaded fuel when we had one.
