300tdi lost clutch pedal action

Anyone know what else is recommended for the spline drive lube.

Book states ROCOL MV3 . Dry Moly lube. Any ideas where to get an equivalent?

I've used a smear of copper slip with no issues, I've also forgotten to use anything, again, with no issues.

If you remove the gearbox you can get a really good picture for some one to tell you whats gone wrong.

sorry couldnt resist. The same thing happened to me after fitting the gearbox and i had to take it out again so i feel your pain.

I covered it in my rebuild thread. Easier for me as i had a bare chassis.

Clutch rod should come out about 20-30mm from memory. Mine only came out a few mm when it had punched through.

I secured the plastic clip to the clutch fork with cable ties. That way it can't pull off by accident.

Yeah, mine will move like that, and looking at the photos it is not punched through. cable ties sound like a good idea. I am wondering if it is possible to use cable ties on the slave cylinder to hold the push rod clip in place and and the release bearing end to hold the staple in place? Will give it at good butchers when i get it all apart.

I found that the plastic staple kept falling off because the legs wernt long enough. I made one from same gauge galv. wire with slightly longer legs. Time will tell if this works.

Like i said, time will tell. I havent driven it yet as only just getting on with bodywork. As soon as i get the seatbox and tub sprayed and fitted i will take it for its first drive.

Right fitted the new slave cylinder, FTC5202. which raises a question is it the right one?

I have made a few phone calls surfed the interweb and no-one seems to be able to tell me what the difference is btw ftc5072 and ftc5202. They changed at a specific gearbox number , but mine is a recon gearbox and the number is hand engraved and is a non legible scrawl. Aslo appears the push rod changed at the same time, Does anyone know the difference btw the slaves of the push rod?

Reverse bled, but the oil can seemed to put air into the fluid as I pressed the trigger. Pedal still on floor. I have left it pushed down hard for the night in the hope it may self bleed a little, then tomorrow I will bleed it again from the top.
