My 1974 SWB now has a broken leaf on the rear right spring, fell into a pothole. I'm presuming to change both sides, and to stay with standard spec plus new shock absorbers for good measure.
Looking at previous posts on this subject, they're all 5+years old it seems
What's the current thinking about where to source replacements please?
Many thanks

Lots of criticism of Britpart std springs but I've used them n have no complaint. Do you have a part's manual? There's lots of individual spare parts you'll need. The bushes are a b'tard to get out. Suggest you burn them out. If they have been in for a while also suggest you ream the holes. They get ovaled over the years. A 32mm reamer will do the job. That way the new bushes will drive in OK. Good luck its a dirty but worthwhile job.

GB springs get the nod. Bit cold at this time of year to grovel around under a Landie so read up on what is required and get it done in a day !

I know britpart paras can sag badly (previous owner fitted them to mine and now has a bad list). Not sure of standard springs though, as theres less felx in the setup it may be alright

gb springs, mainly do parabolic but they do standard for series 1's so I assume for others too

I contacted GB Springs about standard rather than parabolics. Their response was that they do not stock S2/S3 'multileafs' (which I assume to be standard springs), but they can make them for £135 + delivery + VAT each (£650 inc VAT, plus delivery for 4), lead time 3-4 weeks. This was in July this year.

Bit rich for my blood so I will be going for their off the shelf paras when the time comes.

How much are the paras by them? I will require a set soon

Sam, this was what I was quoted in July...

"For a SWB Land Rover Series II or III vehicle, we offer a two-leaf front and a three-leaf rear spring (true three leaf spring not a 2+1 spring with a loose helper) - £320.00. The kit includes the springs (handed and clearly marked Off side and Near side), "U" bolts + nuts, eye bolts + nuts and rubber to metal bonded bushes (standard Landrover sizes). In some instances the leaning issues comes from springs not being handed. The load capacity for the two leaf fronts is 930kg per axle and for our three leaf rears is 1190kgs per axle. We do not recommend fitting two leaf front and two leaf rear springs since in our experience they have caused problems if any reasonable load is carried in the back of the vehicle. In our experience with a standard set up these springs should not raise the vehicle more than 1" at most.

Our packages are available ex stock and are quoted inclusive of UK VAT (at 20%) and include 2-3 day carrier delivery to addresses in England"

Thanks for all advice, job now done with standard springs and new shocks. She sits properly level now and no longer rear wheel steers, turns out there were 2 broken leaves on the offside including the top one! Explains the "exciting" drive I had getting her to the garage! Thanks again
