As you know I love this forum and I love talking Landies and I wasn't going to whinge about this next little problem but I thought what the hell, someone on here will know a quick fix won't you? Please?
My sat nav didn't work work when I got the car (mk 3 cd based one) and after a bit of investigation, there was no disc in it! After doing a bit of searching on here, I found someone's download link and popped in the dvd and it still didn't work hence why I discovered that was the mk 4 unit. Anyway, it didn't want to give me the disc back which I assumed because maybe a dvd was thicker than a cd and it confused the system so after creating a set of metal chopsticks with our cutlery (Boy was i popular that day) and got the disc out. After taking the plunge and buying a cd for £25 I raced out to the car to put it in and it didn't even want to take the disc. I made a backup copy just in case the chopsticks had to be used again, slammed the disc in and it spins, it tries but it doesn't register on the head unit that it's there.
So gurus, anyone ever come across this?
It's not high on my to do list as I have sat nav on other devices but it would be nice to have someone buttons to press to justify the new battery and alternator as they can take it. I won't be going down the route of upgrading to a mk 4 or anything but if there's any cheap fixes or exchange units I would consider it. There's got to be someone on here who is to sat nav what Bemble is to gearboxes
