Anyone know why its doing that?

If it's the same as my 300Tdi Disco then it was a bad connection on the alternator .. small connector needed replacing, just cleaning helped but the real fix was replacing it!

Its 200tdi so won't be electrical. I know its got a speedo cable, just wondering why, or rather, what could go wrong with the cable to make it go all over the place
