As per my new member introduction ive just purchased a very late '84 series 3 safari swb. History would have it that it belonged to a police constabulary in the midlands in its early life. It has since changed hands a few times and has been sat on a driveway for the last 3 years. I got in touch with the owner asking if it was for sale and he invited me to have a look while he was at work. I spent a good hour and a half under it,on it,playing with bits and getting an idea of what it would need to get it back on the road.
Its showing 46k miles apparently genuine. It has new doors and door tops but not in colour still in primer. All original seats and all rear seats with a full set of mint spare seats. It has weller type 8 spokes with fat tyres(unsure of size) with a full set of original tyres and wheels too. Being a safari it has the double skin roof and vents, all light guard grills, rear flaps, gun rack, tow rope, high lift jack, bull bar with spots etc.It had overdrive but it has been removed
but it still has fwh. Work wise apart from a stretch of its legs it needs the osf spring hanger welding. The rear crossmember has been repalced and needs tidying. Its a 2 1/4 still but i like those engines if im honest. A few drips of oil underneath and a flat battery but a landy that "looks right" and seems right. Anyway £450 and its mine.
Whats your thoughts?
I dont have pictures yet but by gum im excited!!!
