I just can't believe how much they cost these days.
When I built my old series two, I found this old bloke in Wolverhampton who used to knock them up to get a bit of beer money for himself and his wife.
All plywood bases and backs £10 a squab or back, I managed to get a full set of standard seats for £45

I’m going to have a go at recovering my deluxe seats once I’ve gotten through the rest of my long landy to do list, wanted something unique and as you said, prices are absolutely extortionate
