I don't know if anyone on here is anywhere but the fuel protests have started up and down the country again. Please if anyone finds out about a protest can they post it's time and place bellow so people can attend if they want, or so they can avoid the area altogether. Welcome back, I am sorry about the downtime that we have just experienced. Plenty server problems and not enough help from our datacentre. If any of you know a decent datacentre in the UK please let me know, as we have to move! Have fun!

Some of you may have noticed that the forum was down for some time last night. This was due to a rather large crash and the resulting time needed to recover from it. There may need to be more downtime/slowdowns as we investigate further problems with the server and increase backup intervals incase it all goes tits up before the solution is found. If the forum is gone, I will keep you as updated as I can by twitter and facebook. Every now and again we outgrow our hardware, that time is once again upon us. Next week we will be moving to another server, this time one which will be easier to upgrade and expand from. There will probably be around 6-7 hours downtime and slowdowns as backups are made and the new server is ramped up... So if you turn up and get no response then you will know why!

I've just found a promising looking new website. Located at http://www.landroversreunited.com this is a well designed Land Rover version of friends reunited. You can enter details of land rovers you own or have owned and hopefully when the database is built up you will be able to do searches for land rovers you used to own and see where they are now. As you are all aware, The ability to take the **** and have the **** taken out of each other is widly accepted on this forum. People come onto this forum to socialise and to ask for help when needed. It has been noted that just recently when people are asking for help they are being barraged with comments and posts that are neither helpful nor constructive. It is one thing to take the micky out of a well established member who you may know. It is a different ball game when it comes to a newcomer asking for help and being told where to get off or what he or she should do with their choice of vehicle We do not wish to discourage banter but please can you try and reserve it where possible for the general forums rather than the vehicle...

Just thought i'd make a quick point about the Email notifications for P.M's on the site. When anyone receives an email from us there is a big notice on them that says PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL. However it seems that people do so anyway. Although i love reading all the miss sent P.M's you should know that by replying to the email, your chosen recipient doesn't recieve the message, therfore they probably think that you are ignorant gits for not replying:D As said this aint a problem for me but it needs pointing out so that your messages go where you want them to. Hope this makes sense peeps:doh:

I have just upgraded the forum software. Not quite finished yet there are a few bugs to iron out. Let me know in this thread if something isn't quite how it should be and have a look out for the new features (something to do with social groups, but I'm not fully sure myself yet)!

Contrary to common belief last night was NOT about heavy handed modding. It was about keeping deliberate SPAM off Landyzone. Last night happened because members of another site decided they were going to make a seemingly innocent question up and then answer it with a link to their site. DESPITE WHAT IS BEING DENIED ELSEWHERE THE PERSON LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WAS AN ALTER EGO OF THE SAME PERSON HE HIMSELF WAS LOOKING FOR. That is all that needs to be known. They were dealt with in the same way that any other spammer is dealt with. WE DO NOT LIKE BANNING PEOPLE AND DO NOT WANT TO BAN PEOPLE. PLEASE DON'T MAKE US HAVE TO CONTINUE.

I am getting many reports that people are using the PM system to spam other members about other websites. We don't usually have a problem with people putting links in sigs or linking to relevant material on other websites, but using landyzones bandwidth for outright spamming is a bit out of order. Any reports up to now have been disregarded, but from now on anyone PM spamming or blatently spamming in the forum will be slapped on the wrists If anyone wants any advice about how to gain visits to other websites without spamming, then feel free to PM me.
