Paint for refreshing front grill and light panels

I used a trick that I once saw used on a drain pipe to get it back to black from grey. But you have to be careful as it can soon make a mess if it all. Basically you need to heat it and I use a flame like propane torch or I guess that butane and propane mix stuff would work well. Just give...

Advice please on dealing with a sheared manifold bolt

I did exactly the same the other day. Although my manifold was off at the time. Centre punch then drill, mine didn't want to go straight so ended up a little to one side. Drilled bigger and tapped out to M8. You could try and get a angle drill which will allow you to work in the confined...

    Lift kit advice

I quite agree but I will be perfectly honest I understand all of the reasons you may or may not need to do the extras. I was looking for some one who may have a similar lift and some insight from them about if they were going through bushes and uj's with such a small lift. Their are allot of...

    Lift kit advice

Hi, This has probably been covered before but I can't find the answer. I have fitted some bearmach heavy duty blue springs which are +45mm. After fitting and measuring its sits about 1" higher. At what point do I need to think about caster corrected arms, props and extended break lines. But...

    Welding my Land Rover

Tig is good if you have nice clean material, however for a older chassis its going to be a waste of time and you will spend more time sharpening your tungsten as it will be contaminated. Argon co2 mix all the way with the mig, you will get good penetration and minimal spatter.

    Welding my Land Rover

I have been pretty much self tough and my only real bit of advice is to practice. Learn to setup your machine for the job your doing and get your material as clean as you can. I find that if your trying to weld something like a chassis that might be thin and a bit rusty or in a difficult spot...

    Rear cross member surface rust

It might be going a little far but we usually get the vehicle in the air and give it a rub with the sand blaster. Then red oxide and top coat. That will last longer then any other option.

    Winch bumper

It's a completely new build, all from 6m plate. It's allot stronger.

    Winch bumper

The progress is going ok with the new build bumper. The welding has pulled it a little nothing a good push against a big rock won't sort though. I was wondering about any bracing inside and I also noticed two more brackets that sit under the current one I have. I am not sure how they bolt to...

    Winch bumper

Well for example if I pull at the front I can bend it in and out with ease. If I try to winch anything it will just bend the bottom up. Decided today it's good for a template. Got some 6mm plate bent for the sides and the winch tray. Will see what I can do next week and get the new one welded...

    Winch bumper

Yeah it's home made and probably well used. It was however a little less straight than it is now. Done some bashing with the big hammer and the anvil.

    How do!

Sure A few photos of the brief history since I have had her. From rough mod vehicle to rebuilt. Fully blasted chassis and running gear. Reprinted, loads of bits galvanised and now drives very well. I am extremely happy with it although still doing loads of improvements. She now has a...

    Winch bumper

This is the bumper, I have decided that it just won't be thick enough. It's only 3 mm so have decided to fold section of steel and insert it behind the stainless. Should look ok from the outside but will now be more than strong enough. But having said that as I am writing this it has just...

    Winch bumper

Hi, I was looking for a winch bumper to suite husky superwinch and found one on eBay. Duly bought it but it turn out to be stainless. Fits and looks ok but not sure how the material is compared to steel. It isn't as thick as the steel ones so not sure if it will be strong enough. Does...

    How do!

Heyup I have been viewing for a while and asked a few questions but I thought it time to introduce myself. I am Paul near Macclesfield and I have a 110 double cab. Used to have a nice 90 but the family needed more space and I also needed a pickup. I have been laning a few times in my old 90...

    Seat belt length

Definitely mine that are way to short then. I wonder why that is? It's an Ex MOD but not sure that would have much to do with it. Breakers yard then to see what I can get I guess.

    Seat belt length

Weird. I can't get mine around a child never mind the seat or even an adult. I had a girl who was quite slim try it and the belt was about 2 to 3" to short still. Perhaps I need to get a set will fit.

    Seat belt length

Hi, Does anyone else have any problems with the length of the seat belts on their 2nd row seats? I have a 110 double cab and haven't noticed this before as we have just started to use it after rebuilding it. That the rear belts just aren't long enough to go around anyone at all. I haven't had...

    broken snap on screwdriver

I to have broken a snap on screw driver using it correctly. Put a snapper on the little nut head at the top and you can really give it some turning power. The thing I break most is the 1/2" strong arm or breaker bar what ever you call it. Even did the 3/4" one once. All replaced free of...
