Occasional 4WD.
Towed 24ft twin axle caravan 120 miles many times, winter and summer.
Now over 166K so I’m happy to run without a fan.
When I originally removed fan I carried it round with me just in case. After 12 months didn’t bother carrying it.

My 2005 x 166,000 mile TD5 Defender LWB XS, or whatever it is, went for MOT on 8th June.

I find it’s quieter and warms up much sooner in winter, but the needle never moves from where it was when the fan was fitted. Absolutley sure my TD5 doesn’t need a fan in UK.

Bit of a dummy here, but, would my 2005 TD5 have had a DPF fitted when new?
On the original front exhaust pipe (Which I still have) there is a bulge part way down where the pipe is a larger diameter for 6 or 8 inches in length. What would that be?

Talking to a TD5 owner recently who’d just had his Landy MOTd.
It passed, but garage told him, IF he’d taken it in after the new test came in it would have failed.
He thought this was because smoke could be seen coming out the exhaust.
Is this correct what he’s saying, because if it is, my TD5...
