I bought the new sat nav and DSP for just shy of £1200! with me having to fit them. I didn't want to risk buying a lemon on ebay! ........thing is i've thrown quite a lot of money at this problem now - all I want is a radio!! - next job, curing the water leak!

cheers, i'll have a look at it...........mines a 2004 '04' vogue - are they easy enough to change? i'm fairly confident at doing most jobs. Failing this is there anything else it could be?..........is there any chance the new DSP I bought might be at fault, not giving out the volume?

yeah, i've replaced the sat nav as I mentioned, so the head unit might be it! if I could get one for say £300 - and it works then that sounds ok to me. I'm near York.

This kind of narrows the problem down to the head unit then? so is it a case of replacing the ecu for the audio? if there is such a thing that can be replaced?! or swap the head unit? in other words........if you were me what would you do?

When the comp was having no luck on the new DSP, we plugged the old one back in and it wasn't connecting with that either. I put it down to the programme........but as know nothing about these things it could be anything!

so what controls the volume? is that in the DSP? or the head unit? or the radio module? as i've said, it works and everything would be fine if I could just turn the thing up!

I know Hippo, I have a friend with the diagnostics on his laptop - I paid £50 so he could download the program for the DSP but that came to nothing as the programe couldnt connect with the DSP for some reason. - suggesting it wasn't there! but the new DSP is active on the head unit and...

The main problem with me is anything mechanical, that you can see or hear a problem with then thats fine. But with electrical - where you cant see a problem then i'm lost! Is there anything in the radio module that could cause it? ie does the radio module control the sounds / volume from the cd...

All the connections are clean, i've double checked them all by cleaning the insides with a needle file so the metals shiny. The weird thing is that I can hear the music etc coming through, but only very slightly when the stereo is on full blast. This led me to think that it might be a muting...

Thanks datatek, i've just double checked all the connections, there are no broken ones and they are all clean. I'm wondering if its going to be something really obvious - as all the speakers are working but just at a really, really low volume. Any other ideas anyone??

Hi, a bit of an update - The new amp is now registering, DSP is now showing on the screen and a very faint sound can be heard through all the speakers, it just seems I can't turn the volume up now! anyone else experienced this problem?
