Just found a socket which looks like a scart socket but about 2/3rds the size which has been fitted under the front of the cubby box. It's a 300tdi so obviously not engine diagnostics!!! - thought it must be some sort of stereo input? any ideas what it is?

I have had a similar problem before and would suggest that you check the rear number plate light as this is on the same circuit as the NS side lights. The insides are often rusty and in my case the bulb holder was bent and shorting out. Neil

The drill size for a 3.2mm (1/8in) rivet should be 3.5mm or 9/64 HSS bit. The one that looks liked a top hat where you cant see the end of the stem poking out of the shell is normally known as a sealed rivet. Neil

Both the near side front side light and the NS rear lights are out. Brake light works OK as do all other external lights. The gauge lights on the dash are also out too. As I've not much idea on electrics, Anyone know the best place to start? Neil
