    Freelander2 Oil Change

Thanks for the info. I imagine the under shield comes off in much the same way as the FL1?

    Freelander2 Oil Change

Mikey, From your post it seems you have done a few FL2s. What size nut is on the filter housing (so I can get a spanner) and is it better to remove the filter from underneath? Chris

    Freelander2 Oil Change

I think the oil filter housing on the FL2 TD4 is a smaller size socket than the FL1 TD4 (it looks it). On my old FL1 I used a wheel hub nut socket to remove the oil filter housing but on the FL2 there isn’t the same access to get a larger socket in. Maybe a good quality ring spanner will work...

    Freelander2 Oil Change

The oil filter is basically a pig to get to. Front of the engine, low down, sandwiched behind the radiator fans and engine block with some pipwork thrown in to make it even more difficult. Not changed mine yet but I understand it’s the same idea as the FL1 TD4 where you have a plastic housing...

    buying guid fl2

Go for it. Just changed my FL1 TD4 for a FL2 TD4 (57 Plate). What a tow car. Just towed down to Cornwall and back home (Cleveleys, Lancashire) and found it to be a fantastic towcar. Cornish hills, what hills. Just be aware of the price (I found some LR Agents are asking silly money for high...

    IRD Filler Nut

Folks, Just tried to remove the IRD Oil filler plug and looks like I’ve damaged the head. I changed the IRD oil about 40K ago and it was tight when I took it off then but looks like the guy who changed my clutch last year didn’t intend it to come off again when he topped up the IRD oil level...

    which alternator

If you can clean the dirt off you can normally see the ident label on the top when looking down on the alternator past the oil filter. Mines a 2002 GS S/W and has a VALEO YLE000070 (150Amp) fitted. This part number was superceeded by YLE500170. I understand a later part is interchangeable with...

    TD4 Auto alternator.

Can you get away with just unbolting the rigid cooling pipe (three bolts I think) and not having to disconnect and drain the lower radiator hose? Chris.

    FL 2 Towbar Wiring Question

Folks, Thinking of changing my FL1 to a FL2 and was wondering if anyone had any experience with fitting a towbar to a FL2. I noticed on the Witter web site that ‘Dealer Coding Is Compulsory’ for the dedicated electric kit (£140+), but they also list a ‘Generic’ wiring kit as well. I was under...

    Freelander MOT? Easy!!

After spending over £300 in the last month on a Starter and a Lift Pump (TD4) I was a bit worried about my MOT. Having said that it passed no problem. Eight years old and 87,000 on the clock. I’ve had it since three years old (first MOT) and never had a problem at MOT time, never even had an...

    Britpart Oil Filter For TD4

Just had a service kit delivered for my TD4. I have used these kits in the past for the 12K service and they have always contained a decent quality oil filter (OEM – Branded). This one has a Britpart oil Filter which I’m not sure if its an OEM standard filter (although it looks better put...

TD4 Under Bonnet Fuel Pump Noise

Folks, Advice please. 2002 TD4 Under Bonnet Fuel Pump Noise. Halfway home tonight I noticed a buzzing from the engine bay, later found this to be coming from the under bonnet fuel pump. Checked the in-tank pump and appears to be OK, I can hear that one running (almost silent). Cannot get the...

Getting a wire into cabin from engine bay

Try the drivers side (assuming it's RHD). I’ve run cables on both sides for various mods and found the drivers side to be easier.

    Freelander Tail Door Lock Motor

Folks, Is the rear tail door (tailgate) central locking motor supplied as part of the door lock on a 2002 - 5 Door or can I buy this as a separate part? Anyone know any Part Numbers? Thanks, Chris
