    running on sump oil !!!!

Engine is completely shot ! I went through a phase of using SVO without pre heat or diesel start - result is bore glaze and rings siezed = massive blow-by and very poor starting. Existing fuel lines are fine for oil, as is filter. I used a marine tank in boot for diesel. One freelander going to...

Christ on a bike ! How many of you know anything about turbocharged engines? First off there was plenty of oil in it - thank god i do check it regulary! And as for 100 mph being fast...that was an indicated 100, probably 85 in reality! The L series engine is very tunable and the internals will...

    Freelander - Not Starting

lets get one thing straight, only ever connect like for like terminals, + to +, - to - when jumping - now theres another distinct posibility, if you drain a typical lead/acid battery far enough it will not recover (under conventional circumstances - zap the bastard with 72V and a couple thousand...

COSTCO IS 48PPL, for what its worth, i ran mine on a 50/50 mix for a few thou miles but wasnt comfortable with it on cold mornings. If anyone wants a twin plug fuel heater its yours for £20 - with brand new plugs (hence the price) untested.

    water loss

in my opinion the surest way to DIY test for head gasket failure is to see if the coolent hoses go rock hard straight after starting a cold engine - oil in water & water in oil all have certail specific presumtions which may or no be met whilst a pressurised coolant tract is almost a cert. HTH.

heat exchanger is one copper tube running inside another - Im not after heating it to 80deg at this point, its just there to get fuel through the filter, the fuel pump gets plenty hot enough to heat the fuel to the correct temp for the injectors.
