Yeah I used the gear lever and remote off my original box because on the defender the gear stick is in front of the transfer lever but on the disco its behind. By the way I got a mate to turn up an extension for the selector shaft so no need to strip the old box.

Hi an update for anyone whose interested, got my box out and put the two boxes side by side, it looks like the only difference after removing the gear stick assemblies is the length of the selector shaft and the handbrake actuator now all I have to do is decide if its worth striping my old box...

Hi Guys I'm new to this forum so id like to say thanks for having me, I'm trying to find out if a r380 gearbox from a disco will replace the worn out r380 in my defender has anyone done this swap and is it straightforward any info will be appreciated. :confused: cheers, Mike.
