    TD5 Air suspension complete collapse

Okay - I can't argue with the voice of experience. It is a modification though. Land Rover did not sell a 7 seater with coil springs. They designed and tested a car to seat 7 with self-levelling suspension. It could invalidate insurance unless the insurer is informed ( and they might want an...

    TD5 Air suspension complete collapse

Hi, have you tried changing the height sensors on each side? I had to change these to finally fix the problem. Mind you, once changed you need to recalibrate the suspension either through a dealer or Nanocom. I have a Nanocom and did this in an hour with it and a tape measure. . Car is totally...

which 4x4 / big car to buy?

I'd love to see you taking a Vito off road. Make sure you're not at a risk of heart attack when you try to get it serviced - van space, s-class servicing costs. If it's gotta be a merc, then G-Wagen, not for 11K though. 101 Forward control?

which 4x4 / big car to buy?

We're all discretely avoiding the Freelander - he said a 4x4, not something that will end up being a 4x2.

which 4x4 / big car to buy?

Get a Disco - you know it makes sense. My Disco II can almost go anywhere where my 110 hardtop can go, with the right tyres on. Disco 3 and 4 are lovely, lovely motors, not cheap though. You know in your heart you don't want something from the Land of the Rising sun. You want good, robust...

Ride height difference on each side, question

I bought mine new and it's paid for itself easily: Calibrated Ride height Identified& cleared ACE problems - fixed with new pressure sensor Eased my mind when engine was running badly - just needed a new injector loom I thought I had turbo/ EGR problems/poor performance - I didn't They do pop...

Ride height difference on each side, question

Recalibrating only took an hour with the Nanocom. Tape measure to check ride height on both sides. Pump up/down, set and save settings, job done

Ride height difference on each side, question

yes, get it calibrated or get a Nanocom or similar and do it yourself. I did mine last year. New airbag and sensor, Nanocom, job done. Get it done quick- mine blew the passenger side up about 6 inches too high. Lucky it didn't pop. It's not worth the risk of it failing on you at speed somewhere.

    aUTO CONVERSIONS

Thank you, just what I need to hear! I saw elsewhere that Twisted Performance can do auto conversions. Anyone any good experience of them? I know it's going to cost £££'s but the Disco is a car I paid £40K for in 2003, sat doing nothing.

    aUTO CONVERSIONS

Hi everyone, I've been a land rover owner for 8 years but my labour of love with them ended last year when I had a stroke. i'm now disabled (only one arm ) and will probably never drive a manual again, so wonder if anyone knows: Can a discovery 2 td5 be converted to an auto gearbox, also can a...

    Auto conversions

Hi everyone, My (real) name is Damian. I've two lovely land rovers - a 2003 Disco II facelift and "the tank" - a 2004 110 Defender TD5. Sod's law: I'm half-way through renovating the Fender - needs some body work, I've double-windowed side panels to fit, a TD5 engine with no hoses, two...

Will this be a good mate

As Harry says, because the tyres are smaller than the usual 235/85's or 7.50s, then your speedo will think the car is going faster than it really is. If you're on those wheels and tyres now then the difference with the Mudzillas would probably only be around 2-3%. You might be able to live...

Will this be a good mate

Sorry this is a lame answer but why not just ask Silverline? If they say they fit then you can't lose - if they fit your actual car, all good and well. If not, send them back.

Bulkhead £800! it'll be a pile of rust in 5 years

Try Ashtree for a galvanised one: Ashtree landrover I've never used them but galvanising bulkheads (and other bits) is what they do!

    wheel questions?

Don't fit them. Insufficiently rated wheels = voided insurance, whether you load it or not. Deep dish and boost alloys are rated for a 110. You'll need bigger profile tyres on a 110 too. 235/70's just look too small on a newer 110.

    defender advice

I wish I wasn't so cynical sometimes. It's a ten year old car for nearly £9K, it's spent a third of its life towing a caravan, apparently, it's an early TD5 engine with the risk of oil pump failure (big big bucks), head gasket problems, diesel in the oil and fuel pressure regulators spraying...

    HELP!!!!! Please.

It sounds as if you've no choice but to go for the springs but you'll need to bear the following in mind: 1. Once you've put the springs in, you'll need to tell the ECU that you don't have an air suspension any more. A nanocom or similar will do it but you'll get warnings until you do it. It...

    Is it a mod?

I became a 110 TD5 Defender owner recently and went through all this. For a third car with zero no claims and a few mods I found Glynwood got me the best price, although I'm on a low mileage policy. I'm not on commission, they did just give me the best deal: Glynwood Insurance Brokers Make...
