Hi I have now tested voltage at fuse 3 & 6. without key in ignition Fuse 3 = 12.4v, ignition on 11v, engine running 11v without key in ignition Fuse 6 = 0v, ignition on 11v, engine running 11v. Does this show anything strange.

Used a red lead for the earth strap to the engine as the black I had was too short😜

Hi it’s a brand new alternator. There is a wire on the back which feeds the rev counter. The fact the rev and Speedo fluctuate indicates it’s not an issue with the rev counter feed. Voltage whist running is 14.4 v

Next update. Cut and soldered connections in footwell. Fitted new power cables on battery, alternator, starter and new earth lead. Still have the same problem with gearbox power solenoid fault and flicking rev and speedo.

Yes opened it all up, no burning and looked fine. Cleaned it thoroughly with contact cleaner.

Hi. I have recently changed the engine in my 4.0 p38 "Gems type" to the one you have described with the aluminium sump with no problems. The sump will fit fine. I did have to change the cam gear up front and use the old crankshaft sensor but apart from this no other issues. Good luck!:D
