Any suggestions as where to look to find Defenders for sale

Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate it. Peio, for flipping one of these, I paid way too much, but sorta got attached to the story behind it and was impressed with the two gentlemen that had done so much work on it over the last 6 years. They put a ton of new parts and pieces on the truck...

Any suggestions as where to look to find Defenders for sale

The basics are pretty straigth forward. 1986 Land Rover 110 V8 CSW with 91,000 miles. Solid chassis, solid bulkhead ( footwells have been repaired), recent clutch replacement, body work is in what I consider great shape. It has a few battle scars and small dings, but over all looks great...

Any suggestions as where to look to find Defenders for sale

So, further update. Lets start with WOW!!!!! Who knew what was awaiting me in the shipping deal. I think I used a good company. However, that being said, there were so many "gotcha" moments. For the shippers this is a daily thing, but for first time shippers there are so many tank traps that...

Any suggestions as where to look to find Defenders for sale

Update on the search for a Rover, and observations along the way. 1. AA, RAC, Click mechanic, and specialist shops WILL NOT INSPECT A VEHICLE OVER 25 YEARS. That came as a shock. However, did find a gentleman that does classic inspections and he performed the inspection. Mr. John Vines, from...

    Deciphering VIN code information

Thanks Forrest Gump. I was going by a decoder listed on the internet. I'll have to keep digging. This one has the tan tweed seat covers, which started me down this rabbit hole.

    Deciphering VIN code information

Working with a 1986 110 V8, trying to determine trim level. 10th letter in VIN is a B. reading up on VIN decoders i see this: Ser. III CSW or R/R Phase II, or 90/110 face lift to 1987 M/Y I am suspecting that this vehicle was/is a CSW, or the equivalent in a 110. Any thoughts?

Any suggestions as where to look to find Defenders for sale

Thanks Peio, all of those sites have nice examples of Rovers. Although I took French in high school, which is to say back in the dark ages, my French is pratically non existent. I actually have found a couple that look interesting but nothing solid yet. Simon at Motordome has one with low...

Any suggestions as where to look to find Defenders for sale

Marjon, thans for the advice. Will definately check before any money changes hands. However, I'm not to that point yet. It's amazing that people are willing to pay more for a 25 year old defender than they could get a brand new one with all the wistles and bells. I mean, who has 150 GBP for an...

Any suggestions as where to look to find Defenders for sale

Thanks, Saxavordian and Shaynecm. I'll check with Britancia, and I don't think it matters where it comes from for customs. Just as long as it's 25 years old, and you fill out the pile of paperwork.

Any suggestions as where to look to find Defenders for sale

Thanks Western Slope. Good question. I mean I could pick up a Jeep anywhere, but it's just not a Rover. Actually if going that route would consider a WW2 version or close to that time frame version. I've been a car guy all my life and have owned some nice ones. Have also built several cars and...

Any suggestions as where to look to find Defenders for sale

Hello, trying to find if there is a good source for finding Defenders for sale. I''ve tried Autotrader, but have run into the old deal, "Oh, thanks for asking, but that one is sold'" Sorta strange to me that if it is sold, the advertisement doesn't come down. Also pretty much having to deal...

    Hello from across the pond

As the name implies, an old guy from across the pond. Specifically Virginia. Retired firefighter looking to purchase a series or defender to ship over here. Have owned one series III about 10 years ago, but a gentleman from Texas wanted it more than I did, so it resides in Texas now. Great...
